Salvador Moving Towards Ecotourism

Image via WikipediaCentral America is definitely the poorest part of this continent and Salvador has been affected by civil wars, criminality and drug trafficking. Tourism might be a new source of income if the security gets better, and ecotourism will then be a plus for this country.

The government with the support of USAID has recently launched a website Eco Experiencias El Salvador that aims to brand the country a a preserved and ecofriendly destination. We can hope it will be as successful as Costa Rica

I just found this article that shows the commitment that the president-elect is willing to take in terms of environmental policy. I know it may sound naive, but if he only does half of what he says, that would be such a massive step in terms of environmental policies.

Ecotourism in Australia: A Chance for this Endangered Ecosystem

Image via WikipediaIn my last post I talked about how fragile the nature in Australia is and the different threats (mass tourism; climate change) endangering it. Fortunately more people are becoming aware of the situation and taking actions.

Two ecotourist project were distinguished for their achievements: The Wayoutback Desert Safarbased in Alice Springs, allows people to discover the outback without destroying it and Pacific Asia Tourism which described themselevs as a "research, consultancy and education/training organization focused on the capacity of sustainable tourism to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals".

The more this kind of project we can find, the more Australia has some chances to preserve its unique ecosystem.

The Wonders of Australia Threatened by Mass Tourism and Climate Change

Image via WikipediaAustralia is an amazing place an earth with a wide range of amazing landscapes and beautiful costs. The fact that it is attracting so many people that want to enjoy what the country has to offer is in the same time endangering the fragile ecosystem of this continent.

Moreover, Australia will be deeply affected by climate change, which adds another threat to its breathtaking wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef or the Koalas. Even if the country is going to the right direction with the election of Kevin Rudd, there is still a lot to do for the country which has the highest emissions of carbon dioxide per inhabitants in the world.
